The autumn season is a time when many people suffer from respiratory ailments.  Colds, coughs, sore throat, allergies etc.  Acupuncture can do wonders to relieve congestion, stops coughs, soothe a sore throat as well as  help to alleviate all types of allergies and cold symptoms.

I just treated a patient who was suffering from a bad cough, sore throat, dry eyes, and a runny nose.  The patient was a male around fifty years of age that has suffered from allergies for most of his life.  Dogs, cats, perfumes, laundry detergents among other things.  This past weekend he came for treatment because for the past month he has felt a heightened sense of smell and a serious aggravation in regards to his allergies.  His sleep had become disturbed due to his symptoms and other methods that he was trying were not giving him much relief.
The treatment consisted of acupuncture, cupping and pear soup.  Only nine needles were used for this treatment.  After the needles were removed I performed cupping on his upper back to further open his breathing.  I gave the patient a bowl of pear soup to drink after the treatment.  Lastly I suggested that the patient prepare pear soup at home and have one bowl twice a day for the next week.
I spoke to the patient two days later and he said  his heightened sense of smell has diminished and his symptoms were a lot better.  He also told me he has been sleeping much better as well.  With continued treatment this patient will see improvement in his overall immunity and a decrease in his allergies symptoms.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are great for all types of respiratory ailments.  You can get lasting relief without the use of medication.
